A Borough of Culture collaboration from Convenience Gallery and Open Door

LoC is all about giving young people aged 11-19 from Wirral and the LCR an opportunity to engage in monthly workshops in a diverse range of exciting practices, to feel inspired and to connect with others.

Phase 1 of LoC will run from March – August, involving programming headed up by Convenience Gallery and their The Town Is the Gallery programme – find out more and sign up to all sessions for free below.

introduction to foraging and sustainable cooking

Chef Diane Persiaux delves into the world of foraging while demonstrating historic and sustainable cooking practices. Take part in a foraging walk where we’ll discuss the links between local food and people throughout history, followed by a tasting of a variety of dishes and preserves using foraged ingredients and historical methods.

introduction to Calligraphy

Karema Munassar goes through the historic methods of calligraphy. The works created during the session will both inform and be added to a new creative installation exhibited at Birkenhead Central Library from the 26th of July to 30th of August.

‘Use yer head or lose it’ - Sculpture and painting

Artist collective Rudolf and the Schwarzkoglers go through large scale creation skills including sculpture and painting. The works created will then be showcased at a parade and exhibition taking place in 2025, with lots more opportunities to get involved with this project across the year.
