Open Door Charity is one of Merseyside’s most dynamic and progressive independent charities. Designed by young people, for young people, we deliver a range of award-winning services that improve the wellbeing and mental health of young people and adults, using innovation, arts and culture as catalysts for change.
Committed to providing free, fast and effective mental health support at the point that people need it most, we focus on supporting young people and adults because evidence shows that this age group are particularly short-changed by mainstream mental health support. By helping our members to find the tools, relationships and places that help them to feel great and live well, as early in life as possible, we will have the most impact.
Together our members, mentors and staff transform cultures around mental health. The times when we need support become moments of meaningful change. We all have opportunities to connect with brilliant people, transformative tools, and inspirational places.
Open Door exists to shape meaningful change in mental health. We create inclusive communities, joyful places and evidence-based programmes that empower people to be mentally well. What we do first-hand in Merseyside, we share with others, inspiring change across the UK.
Creativity and shared experience is at the heart of everything we do; we innovate, we collaborate, and we push for lasting change.

A 10 week creative project like no other.
If you love or have an interest in art or just want to try something new then this project is for you. Over 10 weeks you will be mentored and work alongside a fantastic team of local and national artists and designers.
Horizons will take you on a journey through amazing contemporary, explorative and traditional arts methods. It will help to expand your understanding, skills and thinking whilst having a lot of fun along the way.
Each week you dive into a different arts practice, like painting, design or screen-printing. Moving away from traditional forms of art and experimenting with new ideas, skills and methods, ending with an exhibition and party to celebrate the work you create during the project.
